Shaelyn Archibald

Shaelyn Archibald embarked on her musical journey at the age of eleven, initially delving into the world of flute. However, it wasn't until 2011, when she relocated to Ottawa to pursue her Master's Degree in flute, that her passion for classical singing began to take root. What initially began as an endeavor to refine her flute tone soon transformed into a deep-seated interest in vocal performance.

With a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Lethbridge, a Masters in Music from the University of Ottawa, and an Artist Diploma from the renowned Glenn Gould School of Music, all in the field of flute performance, Shaelyn's dedication to her craft is evident. In 2020, she achieved another milestone by completing her Master of Music and Literature in Vocal Performance degree at the University of Western Ontario.

Shaelyn Archibald is not only an accomplished musician but was the visionary founder and Artistic Director of the Quintroversy Woodwind Quintet. Quintroversy proudly toured with Prologue to the Performing Arts and undertook school tours across the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario, featuring their captivating production of Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf." In recognition of their artistic excellence, Quintroversy received the esteemed Paula Award, generously facilitated by Prologue's Arts' Endowment Fund, to develop their new production, which included Poulenc's "L'histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant."

Throughout her musical journey, Shaelyn has garnered numerous accolades and scholarships, including the prestigious Lethbridge Kiwanis Rose Bowl. In the same year, she secured the second position in the Canadian Music Competition's National Woodwind Final within her age category. Shaelyn's formidable mentors have included Camille Churchfield and Dr. Kathleen Rudolph for flute, Marianne Bindig, Frederique Vezina, and Patricia Green for voice.

Shaelyn's unwavering passion for vocal performance has led her to grace local festivals and recitals in both the Ottawa and Toronto regions. She made her operatic debut as Rosalinda in "Die Fledermaus" with the Toronto City Opera in 2016, marking a significant milestone in her career. Her repertoire further includes remarkable roles such as Hanna Glawari in "The Merry Widow," Alice in "Night Blooming Cereus," Helen in "A Northern Lights Dream," and Mrs. Grose in "The Turn of the Screw."

Now, with a bold step forward in her career, Shaelyn has recently relocated to Berlin, Germany, where she aspires to pursue a flourishing career in opera. She is exhilarated by the vast potential and invaluable learning opportunities that Berlin promises, and she eagerly anticipates the exciting journey ahead.
